How it is calculated

The tool multiplies your fixed weekly deposit by the number of weeks you will save: total = weekly_amount × weeks. The deposit is in dollars and the number of weeks is a whole count. The deposit must be zero or more and the weeks a whole number from 0 up to 1,000,000; a blank or negative entry, or a fractional number of weeks such as 10.5, gives no result, and 0 weeks gives a total of $0.00. It adds up deposits only. No interest is calculated, so the result is a floor for an account that pays interest, and it will match exactly for savings kept in a jar or a non-interest account. The tool does not check that the weeks fit into a year, so it is up to you to count how many Saturdays or paydays remain until you need the money.

Worked example

You plan to put aside 25 a week and have 50 weeks until the holiday shopping starts. The calculation is 25 × 50 = 1,250. The tool prints a total of $1,250.00, repeating the weekly deposit as $25.00 and the number of weeks as 50. Every deposit is the same fixed weekly amount, so the total grows in a straight line with each week you add.

Common mistakes

  • Counting calendar weeks you have already passed. Enter only the weeks of deposits still to come, because the tool has no starting balance field.
  • Expecting interest to be included. The result is deposits alone, so an account that pays interest will end slightly higher than the figure shown.
  • Entering a monthly amount in the weekly field. A 100 monthly deposit is about 23 a week (100 × 12 ÷ 52), not 100.
  • Entering fractional weeks such as 10.5. The tool needs a whole number of weeks and shows no result otherwise; round down to the deposits you will really make.
  • Assuming a skipped week is handled. The tool multiplies; if you plan to miss weeks, lower the number of weeks to match.

About this calculator

A Christmas club is a savings plan, historically offered by banks and credit unions, built around a simple idea: set aside a small, fixed amount every week throughout the year so the money is there for holiday spending in November or December without having to scrape it together all at once. The accounts date back nearly a century and, while dedicated Christmas club bank products are less common today, the same weekly-deposit approach is still widely used for any savings goal tied to a fixed future date.

Weekly deposit times the weeks left until the holidays shows what the fund will hold when you need it, an easy way to plan gifts or any seasonal goal one small deposit at a time.
