Resin Print Cost Calculator
Know the resin cost of every print before you hit go.

How it is calculated
The tool multiplies the resin volume by the price of one millilitre: cost = volume (ml) ÷ 1000 × price per litre. Volume is in millilitres, the price is per litre in dollars, and the result is rounded to cents. A second line shows what 100 ml of your resin costs, price per litre ÷ 10, which is handy for comparing bottles of different sizes. Volume must be greater than zero and the price cannot be negative; otherwise no result appears. The figure is for the volume you type in only. If your slicer reports the model without supports, or you want to allow for failed prints and resin left in the vat, add that volume yourself before calculating.
Worked example
A miniature has a volume of 45 ml in the slicer, and your resin costs $40 per litre. Convert the price to millilitres: 40 ÷ 1000 = $0.04 per ml. Multiply by the volume: 45 × 0.04 = $1.80 of resin. The 100 ml line shows 40 ÷ 10 = $4.00. If you add 5 ml for supports, the volume becomes 50 ml and the cost rises to 50 × 0.04 = $2.00.
Common mistakes
- Entering the weight in grams from a filament-style slicer. The tool wants millilitres, and resin density is not 1 g per ml.
- Typing the bottle price instead of the price per litre. A 500 ml bottle at $25 is $50 per litre, not 25.
- Forgetting the volume of supports, raft and any hollowing drain holes, so the real resin use is higher than the model volume alone.
- Ignoring resin that stays on the build plate, in the vat and on failed prints, which a per-model figure does not include.
About this calculator
Unlike filament-based FDM printing, which is costed by weight, SLA/DLP resin printing is costed by liquid volume, since the printer cures liquid resin layer by layer inside a vat rather than extruding solid filament. Cost is calculated as the model’s volume in milliliters multiplied by the price per liter, divided by 1000 to convert units — and support structures, which are also printed in resin, need to be added to the model volume for an accurate total.
Hobbyist and professional makers producing miniatures, jewelry casting patterns, and dental or engineering prototypes rely on this volume-based costing because resin’s high per-liter price compared to filament makes accurate cost tracking essential for pricing prints for sale or budgeting a print farm’s consumables, and because slicer software already reports the exact model volume needed to plug into this formula.
Enter your model’s volume and the price per liter of resin, and this calculator gives you the resin cost of the print.
