Lead Conversion Rate Calculator

Enter converted leads and total leads to find the lead conversion rate.

Result

7.50%
36 leads
444 leads

How it is calculated

The rate is the share of leads that ended up as customers: rate = converted_leads ÷ total_leads × 100. The count that did not convert is total_leads − converted_leads. Both numbers must cover the same group of leads and the same period, for example all leads created in one month. Leads are whole people, so both fields must be whole numbers. Total leads must be at least 1, converted leads cannot be negative, and converted cannot exceed the total; otherwise the tool shows no result. A rate of 0% is valid when nobody converted. The tool counts every lead equally, so it says nothing about lead quality, deal size or how long conversion took.

Worked example

In one quarter your team received 480 leads and 36 of them became paying customers. Divide converted by total: 36 ÷ 480 = 0.075. Multiply by 100 to get 7.50%. The leads that did not convert are 480 − 36 = 444. The tool shows a conversion rate of 7.50%, with 36 leads converted and 444 leads not converted. If next quarter the same 480 leads produced 48 customers, the rate would rise to 10.00%.

Common mistakes

  • Dividing by a different base than the leads you counted. Using the number of website visitors as the total gives a visitor conversion rate, not a lead conversion rate.
  • Counting customers won this month against leads created this month, even though many of those customers came from earlier leads. The two numbers should cover the same cohort of leads.
  • Treating leads that are still in progress as lost. Open leads sit in the not-converted count, so a young cohort will show a rate lower than its final result.
  • Entering a rate in one box and a count in the other, or a fractional count such as 36.5. Both fields take whole numbers of leads, and the tool calculates the percentage for you.
  • Comparing rates from lead sources of very different size. A 20% rate from 10 leads says much less than 7.5% from 480.

About this calculator

The lead conversion rate is the share of sales leads that actually became paying customers, calculated as converted leads ÷ total leads × 100. It’s one of the most watched numbers in a sales funnel because it directly measures how effectively a team turns interest into revenue, rather than just how many leads marketing generates.

Sales managers and marketing teams track this rate to spot bottlenecks in the funnel, compare the quality of leads from different channels, and forecast future revenue from the current lead pipeline.
