Cocktail Batch Calculator
Enter the per-serving amount and number of servings to batch a cocktail.

How it is calculated
The tool scales one ingredient at a time. You enter the amount of that ingredient in a single serving (per_serving_ml, in millilitres) and the number of servings you want to make. The batch volume is total mL = per-serving mL × servings, and the litre figure is total L = total mL ÷ 1000. The millilitre total is rounded to a whole number and the litre total to two decimals, so a result such as 337.5 mL is shown as 338 mL. The number of servings must be at least 1 (it may be a fraction above 1, such as 2.5), and the per-serving amount cannot be negative; otherwise no result appears. Run the tool once for each ingredient in the recipe, using the same number of servings every time, so the proportions stay identical. The tool adds nothing for dilution, garnish or spillage.
Worked example
You want 24 servings of a drink that uses 60 mL of gin per glass. Step 1: multiply the single-serving amount by the number of servings, 60 × 24. The total in millilitres is 1,440 mL. Step 2: divide by 1000 to get litres, 1,440 ÷ 1000, which the tool shows as 1.44 L. So you need just under one and a half litres of gin for the whole batch. Repeat the same steps with the vermouth, bitters and every other ingredient, each with 24 servings.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting that one run covers one ingredient. The total shown is the gin (or the juice) alone, not the whole drink, so you must run each ingredient separately.
- Mixing units in the recipe. The field expects millilitres; a 2 oz pour is about 60 mL, and typing 2 would give a batch 30 times too small.
- Using different servings numbers for different ingredients. Even a small difference changes the balance, for example sweet to sour, in the finished batch.
- Not allowing for dilution. A drink that is normally shaken or stirred with ice gets water from the ice, so a batch kept in a bottle often needs a measured amount of water added; this tool only multiplies and does not add it.
- Rounding each ingredient by eye. The millilitre total is rounded to a whole number, so measure the exact total with a jigger or measuring jug.
About this calculator
Batching a cocktail means scaling every ingredient from a single-serving recipe up to a large-format volume — a pitcher, punch bowl, or bottle. Enter one ingredient's per-serving amount in millilitres and the number of servings; the tool multiplies the two and shows the batch total in millilitres and litres for easy pouring or bottling. Run it once for each ingredient to keep the proportions identical.
Bartenders prepping for a busy service, caterers and event planners pre-mixing drinks for a wedding or party, and home hosts making punch all rely on batch math to keep the flavor balance of a cocktail identical at 1 serving or 50 — a proportion error that's barely noticeable in one glass becomes obvious (and expensive) at scale.
